This week I pulled out a cross stitch book and decided to work through some of them. It is called 365 Tiny Cross Stitch Designs. Basically there is a cross stitch design for every day of the year. I am picking one from every month that I like to work on. This week I finished January and the one from February. I thought of doing one a month for the whole year, but then I worked ahead. You can never really tell what you will feel like doing at any given time. Since next month I am going to be doing a blanket for project linus as my monthly charity donation I thought why not get ahead on the cross stitch a month while I was interested in it? So here are the two I finished.
This is now the fifth day I haven’t left the house because of snow and cold. I am taking full advantage of it though and working on my knitting. I am struggling a little. I got a knitters beginning kit from Sam’s club and of course the yarn in it would be dark and wavy. The worse thing for new knitters or crocheting. I remember when I first learned to crochet. I wanted to make a baby blanket first. I had to start at least two times(that I can remember) before I finally got the hang of it. I started with a light color yarn purple but it was wavy. So far my knitting has been ripped out multiple times. I am trying to make this basic scarf from my beginners book. Yeah beginners. Anyway I am pretty sure it has multiple holes in it and yarn overs(no I do not know how to do a yarn over in knitting) Here it is!
Today is the first finished object Friday of the year. Even though I have finished a few things this week I am going to share one. This is my first BAM it is the Easy Daisy. I am in love with the colors.
Pattern can be found there.

Today is the first WIP Wednesday of the year. I started. I finished one section of a blanket for Warm up America. Warm Up America is my charity of January that I am donating to. I have some leftover blue yarn that I am using. I am going to see how many rectangle sections I can finish with the scraps I am not going to overextend myself and try to make so many items in a month. Though I do like challenges like that. I am just going to get done what I get done and be happy with that.
Alright it is a new year and here we go. I have a few goals I wrote up. One random and the other ones serious goals. Last year I said I was going to learn to knit in 2013. Well, I did start to knit. Though I didn’t really learn to knit. So that goal is back on the list. I am not going to make any promises about this blog. Because as I was telling a friend tonight. I actually seem to do better if I don’t make any promises on how much I will or wont write. Once I make a promise on it all of a sudden it seems like a chore.
My goals for 2014
take a sleigh ride(the random one. Have to keep things interesting)
sew a skirt
learn to knit(finish that scarf!)
take a quilt class
go to at least one crochet meet up
donate to one charity a month
do block of the month
Alright. So I am back and coming with some finished items. This week has of course been a Freshstitches pattern week. Though I did also catch up on my temperature scarf by Bernat. The Bernat scarf has switched from a scarf to a blanket. I think it is going to be waaaay too big to become a scarf. Finished item time.
These are all Freshstitches patterns! The butterfly wasn’t made this week, but I couldn’t help not including him. I also made a tiny owl by freshstitches, but it was gifted before I got a picture. See you guys for Work in progress Wednesday and pictures of the temperature scarf/blanket.
See to more finished objects go to…
Back to working on this….:) We will see how long I can make it work.
